about
the 2008 DFWshortfest competition, presented
by DFWindie.com is a contest that pits
filmmakers in DFW against one another.
not only are they competing for favoritism
with the audience, but they're also judged
by the group of peers they're competing
against. it is the quintessential "jury of your
peers". additionally, the competition will
see films from some of Dallas' most respected
fimmakers starring many highly regarded
actors and actresses from the area. Dallas
actor Keith Douglas will host the event.

how it works
a filmmaker will anonymously submit his or her short film to
the competition. each film will bear only a title and the film itself. no identifying names, logos, trademarks, or any other indicators are allowed. the films are then put onto a master playlist where they will be run in no particular order at the competition.
all participating filmmakers will be
given a score card with each film listed. each film will be graded
on directing, acting, cinematography, score, editing, and then be given an overall score. these points will use the
"scale of 1-10 method". the score in each category will be added up
for a total possible of 60 points.
the audience will be given a separate score card with only an overall 1-10 rating of each film. all of these score cards will be added up for a grand total points for each film.
at the end of the competition, the winner of the peer choice will be granted Best Picture and the winner of the audience votes will be granted Audience Choice.
